The **Alberta Medical Association** is looking for a creative, communications professional who is passionate about - and well versed in - social media and issues management.

The new **Social Media Coordinator** is a full-time position primarily responsible for creating content for the AMA’s social media channels as well as engaging in and monitoring social media on behalf of the AMA. Outside of this work, the coordinator role will also support traditional issues management work within the department**.**

**Position Overview**

The Social Media Coordinator will work with our dynamic Public Affairs team in a fast-paced environment operating on the front lines of the AMA's social media and public communication activities. Reporting to the Website Manager and working closely with the department's social media and issues management leads, the Coordinator will identify opportunities, plan, prioritize, craft, post and respond to content and messages in support of the AMA's online public engagement priorities. This role will serve as Public Affair's “front of house” for social media and be responsible for monitoring social media activity for issues and key topics, amplifying content and reporting on activity and performance.

In this role you will:

- Employ strong organizational skills to track and coordinate a high-volume inflow of content from different parts of the AMA in developing social media content.
- Play a key role in ensuring the AMA presents a clear and unified voice to our members and the public and be a key player in shaping and growing our expanding social media portfolio.
- Monitor social media daily and serve as key advisor on social media activity surrounding the AMA.
- Contribute to ongoing social media planning and reporting within the Public Affairs department.
- Work with the digital team and communications advisors in crafting content and post approved social media messages.
- Identify opportunities for social media posting and boost social media content.
- Keep track of social conversations and monitor for important or relevant trends.
- Consult with social media team and issues management leads to identify and craft social media posts and address.
- Monitor and report on relevant social media activity, emerging issues/trends, post performance, etc.
- Support development of external/internal communicationsoutside of social media, such as writing content, providing communications advice to internal audiences and issues management support and playing a junior role in planning and implementing communications for internal and external audiences.

**Education and Experience**
- 1-2 years communications diploma or another relevant field.
- At least 2-4 years of communications experience with a focus on social media, online communications or community management. An equivalent of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience engaging on social media, especially Twitter and Facebook. Experience with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn are a bonus.
- Demonstrated writing experience, especially for online content.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in coordinating content development and delivery.
- Health care and/or professional association communications experience a plus.
- Experience with social media monitoring/planning software (Sprout Social, Canva, etc) a plus.

**Skills**
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to stay on message and follow approval processes.
- Ability to help plan, enact and track social media tasks and projects through the social media calendar and planning processes.
- Ability to work independently while also understanding when to raise issues and seek advice from supervisors and key experts.
- Strong writing and editing skills for social media and issues management.
- Community management experience a plus.
- Strong team player with motivation to complete tasks.
- Ability to serve as expert on social media activity and performance.
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple requests from diverse stakeholders.
- Strong people skills in online and workplace settings.
- Ability to track and report on social media engagement.
- Basic digital design skills and experience (photo editing, etc.).
- Experience using news/social media monitoring software a plus.

The starting salary for this role is between $60,195 to $73,304 per annum.
