**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct thorough research, interviews and investigations to gather information for news stories.
- Generate article ideas and pitch stories that are relevant to the local community.
- Write and edit clear, accurate and engaging articles within assigned deadlines.
- Cover various beats such as politics, education, local events, community issues, etc.
- Attend events, press conferences and community meetings to gather information and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with local news, trends and developments.
- Collaborate with photographers, editors and other journalists to produce high-quality content.
- Adhere to ethical standards and journalistic principles.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is an asset but not necessary if relevant experience can be shown.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of journalistic ethics and principles.
- Proficiency in digital tools and technologies related to journalism (e.g., content management systems, social media platforms, multimedia storytelling)
- A strong passion for local news and community issues.

**To Apply**:
**Salary**: $19.00-$21.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
