**Location** - North Campus Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

**Position**

The Design Instructor will be responsible for the instruction of courses at the undergraduate level and will support a host of initiatives to enhance the first-year student experience as well as the Faculty’s Undergraduate Programs portfolio. They will report to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs and join a team of instructional and professional staff focused on the Faculty’s core value of helping students succeed.

**Duties**
- Support the instruction of the first-year design course ENGG 160, including teaching one or more sections and acting as course coordinator for all sections
- Create an engaging learning environment that supports academic growth for a variety of learners, and identify and assist learners who require additional support from you, and refer for specific assistance to ensure students can fully engage in the learning process
- Work collaboratively with the Director, First Year on a host of initiatives designed to improve the student experience in the first year of engineering
- To renew the engineering design components of programs by working collaboratively with Departments in the Faculty of Engineering, including Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering & School of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering
- Develop and deliver new programs, courses, and initiatives aimed at enhancing students’ development of design skills
- Design, develop, and support evidence-based and progressive strategies to reduce student workload and stress
- Support the host of activities needed to scale and expand enrollment in the undergraduate program
- Align programs, courses, and initiatives with the accreditation requirements of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Undergraduate and Master’s or PhD degrees in an Engineering discipline
- Registered as a Member-in-Training, Professional Licensee, or Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta
- A strong background and ability to teach engineering design
- Strong knowledge
