_Bakery Assistant (FULL TIME) _
**DEPARTMENT**: Bakery - Production

**POSITION**: Full Time

**LOCATION**: The Village Grocer (Scarborough, Ontario)

**TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR**: Manager, Bakery Department

**Scope**

The Baker Assistant works in our stores new production facility located at 111 Finchdene Square in Scarborough, Ontario.
This baker is responsible for assisting in the production of high-quality, made-from-scratch baked goods in a precise and efficient manner.

**Role Requirements**
- Recent graduate of a certified baking program at an accredited college
- Flexible and available to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends when required (extended hours, holidays, and midnight shifts on rare occasions)
- Must be able to endure medium/high levels of physical exertion (standing, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, freezer work, etc.)
- Equipment operation (weigh scales, blow torch, sheeter, dough depositor, mixers, ovens, knives, stove, proofer, rolling bakers racks)
- Successful communication with supervisors, co-workers, and customers (in-person & telephone orders)
- Observes company code of conduct, policies, and store rules
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed

**Key Responsibilities**
- Accurately produce all baked goods according to our standard recipes
- Educated in production of batters, doughs, laminated doughs, pastry, fillings, custards, mousses and icings
- Educated in the baking of muffins, loaves, quick-breads, scones, cookies, cheesecakes, pastries, pies, sponge cakes, squares, etc.
- Willing to learn masking, decorating, enrobing, glazing, piping, chocolate work, and all other methods of decorating products
- End of day cleaning responsibilities

**Working Conditions**
- Inside, freezer work on occasion
