The **Director of Strategic Innovation** (DSI) will play a critical executive/leadership role within the Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association (FRAFCA). The DSI will be responsible for developing and executing a highly strategic, innovative, and collaborative plan to identify and engage critical community stakeholders such as funders, community partners who share a commitment to the ongoing need for evidence-based, culturally sound programs and services to the growing Indigenous population of Surrey and the surrounding areas.

The Director will formulate and oversee the organizational strategy to secure the engagement of stakeholder groups across the province of British Columbia and driving for results that build opportunities for FRAFCA program implementation in local communities. The Director of Strategic Innovation will develop and establish strategic partnerships with external organizations to expand and strengthen FRAFCA’s impact and growth.

Key responsibilities for this role include but may not be limited to:

- Spearheading FRAFCA’s Strategic Plan.
- **Supporting the ED in securing a permanent location for FRAFCA in Surrey to support the growth of the agency through efficient operations.**
- Researching financing & partnership options for capital assets such as land, building, etc.
- Networking in community and finding partners/donors.
- Procurement of funding
- Ensuring stabilization and improvement of existing programs.
- **Taking the lead on expansion of FRAFCA services into the Fraser Valley where there is a high population of underserved Indigenous community members.**
- Building our organization’s capacity to move forward with our vision and to support high needs communities. This will support growth and restructuring of our agency leadership to support balance in the work we do.
- Research to identify and serve community with the highest need in Fraser Valley
- Networking and building relationships with community & organizations.
- Securing space & funding for FRAFCA’s expansion project.
- Successfully secure competitive grants through research and development and ensure effective implementation.
- Strive to achieve a strategic plan in line with “Priority Areas” as mentioned in FRAFCA’s strategic plan 2022-2027.
- Timely submission of reports related to Contracts management, funding requirements, etc., meeting the necessary standards.
- Actively participate in the FRAFCA Cultural Committee to ensure awareness of proper cultural protocols, practices, etc. and thereby adapting more Indigenous ways in the organization.
- Ensure appropriate external communication by representing FRAFCA and upholding its values and culture in relation to marketing, media, public relations etc.
- Leading FRAFCA’s fundraising efforts in close partnership with FRAFCA’s leadership team;
- Develop a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively towards FRAFCA’s vision and goal, by clearly communicating agency vision, implementing yearly staff development plans and mentoring.
- Developing a needs assessment for space/expansion in Surrey and in the Fraser Valley and, modernizing our systems for development.
- Meet with stakeholders to secure growth and build capacity.
- Liaise with community stakeholders and build and maintain relationships with local host nations.
- Coordinate with the ED to identify and create a decolonization strategy for FRAFCA.
- Play an active role in maintaining and strengthening the management and governance culture and practices that reflects the organization’s core values.
- Represent FRAFCA and FRAFCA’s Executive Director, on relevant committees and task forces, as well as at speaking engagements, conference panels and trainings.
- Responsible for signing all cheques, notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization
- Manages change and transition challenges, developing procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of FRAFCA BOD;
- Working with all stakeholders of the organization, make recommendations to the ED about strategic approaches, collaborations and new programs, capital ventures or opportunities that may help fulfill the mandate of the association.
- Approve expenditures, in accordance with approved / agreed budget.

**_Qualifications and other requirements:_**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Management or equivalent work experience in related fields;
- Master’s degree in management as an asset;
- Five (5) years or more of program managing experience;
- Five (5) years or more of non-profit experience, preferably within an indigenous organization
- Knowledge of indigenous cultures and lived history
- Proven success as a leader in Aboriginal Organizations, and ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the challenges relevant to Aboriginal people and communities
