- The Production focused Supervisor is responsible for managing all production activities at the Edmonton Ice Cream Plant, including managing work teams, direct supervision of all production, activities, direct responsibility for ensuring completion of assigned quality activities in support of food safety and quality programs, promotion of customer service, employee and union relations, and health and safety initiatives, and participation in capital equipment planning, cost reduction initiatives, and process improvement projects. The incumbent participates to maintain the requirements on food safety, quality and defense._

Must be willing to work a variety of shifts including days, afternoons, and nights

Specific Duties:

- Supervises, directs, mobilizes, develops and trains and coaches a team of unionized employees, ensuring adherence to the collective agreement;
- Ensures compliance with the Health & Safety, Environmental and Food Safety programs, and ensures that the master quality plan (HACCP, GFSI, SQF) is adhered to, implemented and updated at all times;
- Ensures compliance with producing quality products;
- Operate within budget and communicate to the Production Manager if and why budget will be exceeded
- Recommends measures to improve quality results, production methods, equipment performance and product quality;
- Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities between departments to ensure production is completed as required and ensure orders ship on schedule;
- Liaises with sister facilities (other Agropur Warehouses) to ensure that customer service levels are maintained with internal customers and that inter-warehouse transportation is optimized;
- Participates in all plant committees including health and safety initiatives, such as training, coaching, and accident investigation;
- Promote and enhance a positive employee relations environment including efforts to continuously improve employee engagement and teamwork;
- Promote a positive work environment and adopt a culture of continuous improvement in the areas of Quality, Health & Safety, Productivity and the Environment.
- Ensures production equipment and production areas are cleaned as required;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- College diploma or University degree in a related discipline;
- Three to five years of supervisory experience in warehousing, preferably in the unionized food/beverage industry;
- Industry related work experience, especially in production, procurement and logistics would be considered an asset;
- Knowledge of quality assurance and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's);
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Office are preferred;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment;
- Lean manufacturing/5S training.
