**About Svante**
Svante is a purpose-driven, rapidly growing clean technology company based in Burnaby, BC, Canada, and we’re on a mission to help the world reach net zero with filters and machines that capture and remove CO2 from industrial emissions and the air.
We’re a collaborative, diverse group of people who care about the planet and, through our collective experience and expertise, are working to make an impact on climate change.
If you value a culture that welcomes and includes everyone, and you want to be a part of a growing technology company that’s going to change the world, you’ve come to the right place.
**The Role: Structured Adsorbent Bed (SAB) Co-op**
**Who are you?**
The Structured Adsorbent Bed Co-op (SABC) supports the execution of product and technology development projects within the portfolio of the Structured Adsorbent Bed design team. Using internal and external resources, the SABC will be responsible to ensure assigned projects and tasks are completed successfully as per the requirements, as defined by the SABL (SAB team lead), SABSE (SAB senior engineer) and other internal suppliers (see list below).
The projects for which the SABC is responsible will focus on the continuous improvement of existing products and on the development of proof-of-concepts for new technologies. The SABC may also be expected to support and engage in other product and technology development projects within the SAB team, and more broadly across the Core Product Technology (CPT) team from time to time.
As an engineering co-op, the SABC will be provided support and mentorship from senior members of the SAB design team and the CPT team. The SABC is responsible at all times to represent Svante’s Goals and Values to internal and external customers and suppliers.
SAB Team Mandate
Working within the framework of Svante Values and Goals, the SAB team identifies, researches, develops and maintains the key technologies required for the manufacture and integration of SABs, delivering all technical data required for the manufacture and implementation of Structured Adsorbent Bed technology packages being integrated into Adsorbent Machines.
As a resource to the Ram Product Leads (RPL), the SAB team will translate the core product technology designs into manufacturing drawings and documentation with qualified fabrication partners/suppliers and manage the supply chain to deliver SAB’s to RAM projects and Svante’s customers. The SAB team will supply engineering and technology packages directly to the RPLs and will take sign-off responsibility for these packages.
Together with Supply Chain and the RPLs, the SAB team will control and manage the suppliers of components and sub-system machine parts related to Sorbent Beds and manage the build, integration, and testing in the RAM at the machine manufacturers site (Factory Acceptance Tests).
The SAB team will create service documentation and in coordination with the RPL train customer service personnel and support machine breakdowns within the warranty period and, potentially, beyond as a revenue and profit center.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**:
- Support the SABD team to develop areas of key technical competency required for Svante Laminates and Structured Adsorbent Beds to successfully meet current and future requirements according to the Technology Competency Plan (TCP).
- Execute development projects and tasks including product and prototype development, construction and testing; technology research; material qualification; failure investigation, and analysis.
- Perform data analysis and reporting on experimental and operational data from in-house testing, 3rd-party testing, and Svante and customer systems.
- Support the development of analytical and numerical software models related to key technology competencies.
- Support qualification of materials, designs, and methodologies for laminates and structured adsorbent bed implementations.
**Key Qualifications**:
- Experience:
- Experience of advancing technology from an immature to an advanced state is highly desirable.
- CAD software tools and FEA, especially Creo and ANSYS.
- Fabrication and rapid prototyping skills and experience, including design for rapid prototyping.
- Developing and managing physics-based analytical and numerical software models.
- Developing and maintaining software data analysis tools, with a strong understanding of best practices in software architecture development and data pipeline management.
- Knowledge:
- Excellent grasp of first principles in mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
- Proficiency with open-source software tools such as Python (especially scientific libraries) and web development is an asset.
- Attitude: Must naturally espouse Svante values and believe in our Goals and Objectives.
- Education: Currently enrolled in mechanical engineering or a similar degree is preferred.
