The Extension and Support Services Branch is one of three branches under the Agriculture Resource Division of the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The Branch identifies and promotes agriculture and food production/processing systems that are sustainable and enhance the economic benefits to the province. It maintains operations in all agriculture regions of the province to deliver Ministry programs and services. The Branch works through a variety of strategic partnerships and is the primary point of contact for the Ministry’s agriculture clients, including businesses, associations and local governments.

**Job Requirements**:

- A Master's degree from a recognized* post-secondary institution in a related field and at least four (4) years of current and progressively advanced related professional experience; **OR,**:

- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized* post-secondary institution in a related field and at least six (6) years of current and progressively advanced related professional experience.
- Related education includes geography, environmental studies, resource management, agriculture, land use planning, data science, computer science, geomatics, geospatial, statistics, mathematics, engineering.
- Related professional experience includes:

- automating processes using programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic, SQL, R, C, Java, JavaScript.
- planning, managing, and undertaking projects and activities that utilize remote sensing and geospatial data to produce land based information.
- establishing and documenting technical standards, processes and methodologies.
- providing professional expertise on spatial data analysis, spatial data modelling, spatial data standards, geographic information systems, remote sensing or other geospatial disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience establishing working relationships and strategic partnerships with imagery service providers, the remote sensing community, internal clients and colleagues.

**Preference may be given to applicants with**:

- At least 1 year recent (within 3 years) experience (or academic studies) designing and managing research projects to improve accuracy and efficiency of land cover classification.

**Proviso**:

- Must possess and maintain a Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence or equivalent.
