Individuals should have experience conducting biological inventories, including terrestrial vegetation surveys, wetland evaluations, wildlife surveys, environmental impact assessments, and a variety of environmental planning projects. Writing and other communication skills, organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams, are essential qualities.

**Key roles for the position include**:
+ Coordinating and performing field investigations to describe forest and wetland plant communities according to study requirements;
+ Conducting breeding and/or migratory bird surveys; amphibian surveys; mammal tracking surveys;
+ Conducting Species at Risk habitat assessments and species-specific surveys when required;
+ Maintaining effective communication with clients and staff;
+ Adhering to and enforcing corporate health and safety protocols;
+ Interpreting results of investigations and integrating results with additional biophysical data; and

+ Coordinating and writing effective reports in a scientific style.

**Minimum Requirements**:
+ Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental science or biology, from a recognized University or College and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required;
+ Certified in Ecological Land Classification;
+ Knowledge and experience identifying flora and plant communities, including taxonomy and species identification; and

+ Valid Driver’s License.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
+ 6+ years of relevant work experience

+ Certified in Ontario Wetland Evaluation System;
+ Demonstrated experience in coordinating and/or breeding bird surveys and amphibian surveys;
+ Demonstrated experience interpreting wildlife habitat requirements and preparing effective compensation plans;
+ Experience preparing technical reports such as Environmental Impact Assessments, Baseline surveys and Conservation and Reclamation Plans including Species at Risk Mitigation Plans;
+ Knowledge and experience with federal and provincial acts, regulations, policies and guidelines in particular, Endangered Species Act and/or Species at Risk Act;
+ Experience with air photo interpretation (hard/soft copy), and digital field mapping platforms (ESRI Fieldmaps, Survey 123 etc.)

+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

+ Proficiency in use of various research tools, strong ability to write scientifically, and capability to organize and communicate with peers, managers and clients;
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently; and

+ Ability to work in both field and office environments.
