**Merchandising & Yard Lead**

Location: Comox Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Reports to: General Manager of Comox Valley ReStore

Committed to the philosophy of Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (Habitat VIN), the Campbell River Merchandising Lead will be a ‘people person’ with exceptional communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines, and self-directed with a passion for growing the ReStores revenue and operational success.

The Campbell River Merchandising & Yard lead is responsible for overseeing the organization and layout of the ReStore both inside and out, with the purpose of maximizing revenue and minimizing product handling. A strong understanding of leadership will be needed to support volunteer and staff onboarding, and daily task management.

Required Qualifications:

- Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for donors, customers, volunteers and follow team mates.
- Effective time-management practices and strong written, verbal and critical thinking skills.
- Leadership driven, Excellent customer service skills and ability to problem solve and think on your feet. Understand the importance of going above and beyond.
- Ability to visualize and plan and then execute utilizing working alongside the team in a timely and safe manner.
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs

Merchandising & Yard Lead Responsibilities:

- Support inside and outdoor receiving to ensure product is processed quickly, efficiently and priced in-line of current value. Ensure product is positioned in a visually appealing way, focusing on maximum sales, while minimizing waste.
- Ensures that the shelves inside and out are stocked with products, priced and displayed for customers. Track inventory levels, report any issues or shortages to management and clean up unwanted items from flagrant violations in-store decorum.
- Familiarization with the recycling and waste management best practices, to better support others in learning these roles.
- Use communication tools to streamline communication, such as the communication board in the back office and receiving and cashier communication book.
- Connect with Driver Lead and Operations Lead regarding donations we are low in and any support needed to maintain merchandising standards.
- Train and mentor new volunteers.
- Provide task lists and provide direction as needed to team members, to ensure a productive and co-operative enviroment.
- Follow pricing guidelines and ensure consistency in our discount and markdown processes.
- **General**:

- Will be a key carrier, trained on open and closing procedures and assist with cash out, balancing 50/50 sales.
- Assist with onboarding, support and appreciation of volunteers, including but not limited to the cashiers, merchandisers and other customer service related positions.
- Liaise with all areas of the ReStore to support organizational volunteer and team development, communicate any opportunities and challenges.
- Focus on customer service and make it a number one priority. Keep your eyes and ears open and support customers and donors to help maximize their experience and create a long term shopper/donor.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager.

**Safety**:

- Level 1 First Aid
- Ensure self, team and volunteers are adhering to safety standards.
- Support a safe, healthy, and supportive environment in accordance with all appropriate workplace safety legislation and regulations.
- Ensure that Incident Reporting procedures are adhered to, and communicate any issues or concerns to the General Manager.
- Manage and deliver Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) training as necessary including Fork Lift Truck, WHMIS/SDS, Emergency Preparedness and First Aid Training.
