**POSITION: Carpenter**

**DEPARTMENT: Community Services**

**REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Facility Operations**

**POSITION OBJECTIVE**:
The objective of this position is to perform carpentry related tasks in the maintenance of city owned buildings and construction of building additions and modifications.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Organize and schedule tasks to be completed daily.
- Prioritize and assess new tasks as they develop throughout the day.
- Consult with suppliers to establish the suitability of new and existing products and materials.
- Construct with end users to establish needs and propose design solutions.
- Undertake quantity estimating to complete assigned projects.
- Maintain stockroom inventory for efficient completion of current and future projects.
- Purchase material based on availability, suitability, and cost.
- Document and time log daily activities.
- Recognize, investigate, and resolve liability issues throughout city owned buildings and facilities.
- Operate scissor lift, boom truck, and lift truck as required.
- Chemical analysis of pool water and propose or perform the chemical balance of the water.
- Respond to emergency call-ins on an ongoing basis.

- None

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Four (4) years of experience in performing carpentry work in the construction and repair of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, doors, windows, scaffolding forms, furniture, gates, fences, ladders, stakes and wedges, door closures and locks.
- A valid Class “D” Ontario Driver’s License with “Z” endorsement.
- Red Seal Skilled Trades License 403A
- One-year related experience
- Must have Certificate of Qualification as Carpenter (completion of a minimum of 3200 hours as apprentice)
- DZ License
- Certified Playground Inspector and/or Pool Chemistry and Water Balancing an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $31.98 per hour
