Hillhurst United Church seeks a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as a Communications Lead. This role will oversee and implement various communication strategies to engage our congregation and the wider community effectively through story telling. The Communications Lead will work closely with the Sr. Ministry Leadershi team to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication across multiple platforms. This is a part-time position (15 hours/week)

**Responsibilities**:

- Curate and produce the "Weekly Happenings" newsletter, including deciding on featured content and providing ghostwriting assistance if needed.
- Prepare presentation materials for Sunday services.
- Serve as the tech point person on Sundays, overseeing all technical aspects of the service.
- Monitor and respond to social media interactions and inquiries.
- Schedule announcements in worship planning, create slides, and provide general speaking notes for announcement presenters. Coordinate announcement guidelines with congregants involved in making announcements.
- Develop communication plans and execute tactics such as Facebook events, website updates, and videos.
- Manage the church's YouTube channel, including scheduling live streams, adding order of service and descriptions, updating the homepage, editing videos, and creating sermon reels.
- Create and update thumbnails for various media platforms.
- Perform web updates to ensure the church's website remains current and engaging.
- Provide support for small ministry planning center events, including creating forms, managing registrations, and maintaining group descriptions.
- Handle media relations, including writing press releases and managing media bookings and interviews.
- Review external writing materials for John/Andria, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voice.
- Produce high-quality videos to spotlight special events and celebrations.
- Assist in the creation of the annual report.
- Develop stewardship campaign assets to support fundraising efforts.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt the tone and style to different communication channels.
- Proficiency in social media management and monitoring tools.
- Experience with video editing software and YouTube channel management.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with website content management systems.
- Knowledge of media relations practices is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and communicate effectively with different stakeholders.
- A passion for the mission and values of Hillhurst United Church.
