If you answered yes, the Waste Management Function wants you to join their team to support CNL’s sustainability journey. _

The Waste Management Function is looking for a self-started and motivated summer student to join their team who is ready to take on a challenging and rewarding opportunity. The Waste Management Function is responsible for establishing requirements and processes to ensure that activities within the Waste Management Process are performed in a manner that protects the workers, the public, and the environment, and are in compliance with applicable regulatory and licence requirements. The Waste Management Function is also responsible for setting sustainability targets for recycling as well as developing and implementing key initiative to achieve our sustainability goals. The Sustainability Summer Student would help to develop and implement key sustainability initiatives as well as monitor recycling and waste trends to track CNL’s progress.

The Waste Management Function is part of CNL’s Integrated Functional Support Services (IFSS) Division and provides technical and strategic support for the execution of the Environmental Remediation Management Mission at sites across Canada. The IFSS Division includes branches for the Cleanup Function, Safety Analysis, Waste Management Function, Waste Strategy and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG). The division is responsible for ensuring that regulatory requirements are reflected in CNL Processes and implemented across CNL Sites. Ensuring processes and procedures are communicated and working with the different sites and delivery organization to ensure compliance with CNL processes and procedures. One of the key programs of work under the IFSS Division is the ongoing development and implementation of the CNL Waste Management Function.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Liase with various internal and external stakeholders and access various databases to collect sustainability information.
- Provide regular updates and reports on progress.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives.
- Help develop sustainability communications material for all CNL staff.
- Draft memos and PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership.
- Assist the Waste Management Function Team on projects as needed.
- Take notes during meetings.
- Research and benchmark other nuclear companies’ sustainability initiatives.
- Review sustainability information and interpret the data.
- Identify any challenges and make recommendations on how to address them.

**REQUIREMENTS**

**Educational**:

- At minimum, enrolled in a Bachelors in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering or other related Science from a university of recognized standing

**Ability and Skills**:

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, with stakeholders from across a large-scale organization
- Be highly-disciplined and honest, and will be committed to high-quality delivery of assignments.
- Strong research and reporting skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with specific focus on Excel with familiarity with databases, data entry, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated passion in corporate environment, social and governance programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with colleagues from all different functions of the company (accounting, operations, development, human resources, etc.).
- Must have a positive attitude and a commitment to providing support to the team to ensure deliverables are effectively met on-schedule and on-budget.
- Must be a quick-learner, and be willing to take various internal and external training courses related to waste management and/or project management.
- Must be able to obtain site access security clearance.
