Calgary, Canada Rife Resources Ltd Full time

**Rife Resources Ltd.** is a private oil and gas exploration and production company, wholly-owned by the CN Pension Trust Funds (pension fund for employees of the Canadian National Railway). Rife has interests in approximately 610,000 acres of land in Western Canada. Rife’s current production is ~5,000 boed with operational focus on heavy oil in the greater Lloydminster area and light oil in Central Alberta.

Rife also manages the assets of **Freehold Royalties Ltd. **and **Canpar Holdings Ltd.** Collectively, Rife’s employees manage total production of approximately 16,000 boed.

**Assistant Controller**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Preparation and review quarterly & annual financial statements, including notes to the financial statements
- Support in the preparation of quarterly & annual management discussion and analysis (MD&A)
- Research and documentation of the appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions, situations or agreements that may result in unique or complex accounting treatment
- Work on the implementation of new accounting standards including changes to financial statements, monthly reports and system changes
- Assist with special projects as required (e.g. process improvement efficiencies,.
- Liaise with external auditors
- Ad-hoc internal reporting (management reports, queries, etc.) for all levels of staff and management
- Work with a focus to analyze financial results, recommend efficiencies, and provide superior financial analysis

**Required Characteristics, Attributes and Skills**
- Knowledge of IFRS, SOX, and experience in financial reporting.
- Ability to evaluate complex business and accounting issues
- Possesses a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Provide contributions that go beyond the financial function; has a good understanding of business and systems
- Ability to manage internal and external relationships
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including advance Excel
- Strong computer skills specifically in Accounting (Qbyte), Jiblink
- Well-developed interpersonal, team, customer service and communication skills
- Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently
- Able to work well in a fast-paced, growth environment

**Qualifications**
- A professional accounting designation is required (CA, CMA or CGA
- 5-10 years previous applicable industry or public practice experience in a financial reporting or auditing role
