The Navigator will work with the Coordinator to support the development and build capacity of the NAN Hope Crisis Response Program. The Navigator along with all K.O. Health staff works in close collaboration with community leadership, all community resources, and assists in capacity building.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Under the direction of the Crisis Response Coordinator, the Crisis Response Navigator(s) is responsible for:

- Acting as a liaison with leadership, community-based crisis coordinators, tribal councils, mental wellness teams, NAN, health authorities and other program departments etc., to explain and assist with navigation within the program, its roles, how to access, receive referrals and secure supports, as well as building strong partnerships and alliances.
- Arranging and deploy crisis intervention and cultural supports into the communities. Arranging for debriefing, brief individual counselling, cultural supports, and referrals for future care/longer term counselling.
- Being available for on-call services for mental health and crisis situations.
- Gathering and maintain accurate data for quality service, fiscal, statistical and analysis purposes.
- Monitoring the program activity through regular contact with team members and communities to endeavour to ensure they are able to effectively manage crisis and serious incidents.
- Maintaining the strictest confidentiality of clients.
- Coordinating and scheduling of staff and service professionals.
- Assisting the Coordinator with the completion of required reporting.
- Arranging and/or participating in in-service training, meetings with partners, other programs and staff, team building and debriefing activities.
- Maintaining inventory of all program supplies.
- Other duties deemed necessary by the Coordinator and/or Organization.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A degree/diploma in a social work, psychology, health, social services, or related discipline. Consideration given to those with at least one year experience working in an office setting and performing various clerical or administrative tasks or in crisis response. Or, without formal training beyond high school, at least three years of experience.
- Experience in a mental health or social services setting preferred.
- Additional training courses are considered an asset (crisis management, mental health, trauma informed care, cultural safety, administration, time management etc.).
- Excellent computer and typing skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel and Word) is desired.
- Experience/ability working within a multi-disciplinary team, case conferencing, ongoing evaluation of service delivery, addressing gaps in service delivery and implementing change as required bettering servicing the clients and community members.
- Excellent clerical and/or administrative skills.
- Sound knowledge of Indigenous culture and diversity and the principal issues (including the geographic realities, social conditions) affecting the mental health and holistic wellness of First Nations children, families, and communities.
- Ability to take initiative, be adaptable, muti-task, meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand or speak one of the NAN First Nations languages would be considered an asset.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, problem solving, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work on an on-call basis.
- Strong ability to actively listen and an ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanour under pressure and in crisis situations.
- Some travel to remote communities, and other sub-office locations could be required.
