**Personal Support Worker (PSW)**

The Elden of Bradford is a retirement home with 148 suites over 6 floors, encompassing Independent, Assisted, and Transitional Care Living.

The personal support worker plays a crucial role in the health care team, assisting residents in activities of daily living, providing emotional support for residents and families as well as monitoring overall health changes.

**Responsibilities**:

- support residents with their activities of daily living including eating, dressing, hygiene and grooming
- ensure residents have constant and easy access to mobility or assistive devices such as canes, walkers, call bells, etc.
- Answer pendant calls and assisting with resident requests

Physical Requirements
- Stretching/reaching on a regular frequency throughout the shift as an essential job function.
- Walking, with possibility of some upstairs walking, as a major job function.
- Standing, for lengths of time as a major job function.
- Must be able to move, lift or push equipment and supplies of various sizes and weights.
- Must have visual and hearing acuity to recognize the need of assistance required by residents or staff.

**Health and Safety**:

- Is aware of employee's responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures as set out in the employee safety program handbook and departmental manuals.
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and Residents.
- Does not operate or use faulty equipment.
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, S.D.S. or residence policy.
- Participates in fire safety demonstrations and fire drills and knows the residence fire and disaster plans.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of Personal Service Worker certificate program.
- Additional dementia related or GPA training preferred
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process.
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Excellent customer service skills - possess a can-do attitude to promote a positive work environment for the entire team
