The Parkland School Division currently has a Regular Part-time Transportation Associate position available at our Centre for Education in Stony Plain, Alberta. This is a 12-month position from September - June hours will be from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily. For July and August hours will be 8-4:30 PM. In addition, extra hours may be required as needed for additional coverage between September to June.

Function and Purpose of Transportation Associates

As part of the Transportation Services team, the Transportation Associate will support the goals of the department including: provide equitable, safe, and accessible transportation options for all PSD’s students and where applicable, other authority students; ensure transparency and advance efficiencies within the transportation department and operate a fiscally responsible transportation system.

**General and Database Processing**:
Student transportation registration

Input vehicle, equipment & driver information

Clerical and administrative invoice data entry

Customer Service & Communication

Providing relevant information regarding rtransportation to parents, schools, bus drivers and contractors

Issuing bus passes

Dispatch

Dispatching school buses

Utilizing software and two-way radios to provide assistance to drivers

**Transportation Associates may**:
Work under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor

Work independently with students/parents, School Administration, Stakeholders, etc.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team

General and Database Processing

Ensures effective customer service is maintained by documenting incoming inquires, complaints, concerns, safety issues from parents, schools, divisional staff, general public and assig to appropriate PSD Transportation Staff with a date for completion. Ensure a communication response has been completed and inquire has received a response for closure.

Assist with the collection of fees through fee management system.

Maintains and updates student transportation database.

Ensures student database and bus route lists are current and accurate.

Communicates with contractors and their drivers to ensure that information relevant to assigned bus route is correct.

Provides attendance boundary, routing and scheduling information to parents, students, schools and general public.

Utilized PSD software and equipment to support safe and efficient transportation services.

Communicates with parent(s)/guardian(s), schools, and general public regarding transportation related inquiries.

Resolving conflicts related to transportation services with parent(s)/guardian(s), students, schools and general public.

Collaborate with schools and other Departments within The Parkland School Division to ensure Divisional guiding principles are maintained.

Clerical and Administrative

Issuing bus pass/RFID cards for parents/guardians, bus operators and schools as requested.

Providing routing and schedule information to parents/guardians and school principals as required.

Inputting and analyzing data within the transportation logistics software package.

Ensuring that contractor and bus operators are provided information relative to transportation services.

Providing routing, scheduling and attendance boundary information as required.

Dispatching buses to/from schools.

Operating a two-way radio.

Reviewing video data as necessary.

Preparing operator packages for start up.

Invoice data entry as required.

Providing clerical support as required.

Performing other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

**a) Education**:
Office/Administrative Assistant Certificate or Diploma is required or equivalent

VersaTrans Software Training or Logistics software considered an asset

Emergency First Aid Certification

**b) Experience**:
Minimum 3 years' related experience in a fast paced office environment

Knowledge and experience with student transportation is an asset

Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Google Suite - Sheets, Docs, Google Drive

School bus/transportation industry experience is an asset

Excellent word processing and organizational skills

Valid driver's license. Class 2S considered an asset

Equivalencies will be considered.
