**Overview**:
The Mapping Technician 1 is a technical position responsible for maintaining and expanding a municipal-wide GIS enterprise database.
**Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Maintaining Engineering drawings in the records management software
- Developing and maintaining departmental data for civic infrastructure above ground and underground
- Analyze data to produce maps, statistics and prepare technical documents such as procedural guidelines, manuals and metadata
- Liaising and working with internal and external clients
- Provide technical support through tutorials and user manuals
- Maintain a number of databases used to track Engineering deliverables
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- Strong knowledge of GIS principles, standards, and methods
- Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcSuite products; ArcMap, ArcPro, Field Maps, Survey123
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Completion of Grade 12 plus completion of an Advanced Diploma in GIS studies and 1 year of related experience in Municipal Mapping. An equivalent combination of training or experience may be considered. Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia. Experience with INFOR Public Sector Asset Management Software is preferred. Experience with coordinate geometry and survey computations is preferred.**Working Conditions**:
- Work is performed in an office environment with some site visits. Work requires intense visual effort reading, editing and creating maps and plans and working at a computer terminal.**Additional Information**:
