**About the Position**:
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton, established in 1856, continues to serve the needs of Catholics throughout our local area in parishes, chaplaincies and other initiatives. Under the direction of the diocese, the Catholic chaplaincy at McMaster University strives to serve the 24,500 undergraduate and 3,500 graduate students, as well as outreach to the faculty and staff of the University.

The position of Campus Minister will assist the Catholic Chaplain and Canadian Martyrs Senior Leadership Team in facilitating ongoing ministry and faith formation for students at McMaster University, both on campus and at our local church, Canadian Martyrs and St Kateri Student Centre.

The primary mandate of our Catholic Chaplaincy is to strive to promote and sustain an effective Roman Catholic presence dedicated to witnessing and supporting gospel values at McMaster University and encouraging spiritual growth within the student body.

**Position Summary**

**The Campus Ministry Coordinator (the Coordinator)** is a student-facing role. The coordinator helps students integrate their intellectual lives with their faith development by providing rich and comprehensive programming that enhances the student experience on campus.

Reporting to the Chaplain, the Coordinator makes themselves available also - and actively engages with students, staff, and faculty, facilitates faith formation and develops holistic programming to foster student leadership.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Exercise a 'ministry of presence' to students in the Saint Kateri Student Centre and on campus by being available to meet with students on a regular basis.
- In consultation with the Chaplain, develop and coordinate programs that enhance student participation and deepen their curiosity about faith and spiritual life.
- Works with the university’s Catholic students and especially the McMaster Catholic Student Chaplaincy members to foster a sense of community and engagement in activities and outreach of the Catholic Chaplaincy.
- Supervise and support the initiatives proposed by the Student Executives Team: help in their recruitment, training, and projects.
- Maintain Campus Ministry social media channels and create content to help promote events, programs, and initiatives with key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other Offices on the Campus to organize programming for students, staff, and faculty in consultation with the
- Coordinates, advises, facilitates, and actively participates in liturgical planning and prayer activities at the church of Canadian Martyrs, as well as on-campus ecumenical and interfaith liturgies, where possible.
- Actively participate in the Diocese of Hamilton Campus Ministers' Meetings.
- Maintain membership in Canadian Catholic Campus Ministry (CCCM) and other associations as appropriate.
- Other responsibilities as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's Degree with an academic background in Theology is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the personal and spiritual development of university-aged students.
- Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing, with an active faith life.
- 4 years of experience in university, young adult, or youth ministry.
- Comfortable and proficient with technology, social media and communication. Strong organization, planning, time-management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible work hours, such as evening and weekend presence, will be required.
