This position is responsible for performing routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance. The Greenskeepers operates small hand powered equipment and performs work involving large equipment such as triplex mowers, tractors, rotary and reel mowers. Each greenskeeper is assigned the responsibility to maintain 27 holes of golf on either the North or South course.
**Responsibilities**:
- Waters and fertilizes greens, tees and fairways.
- Operates all equipment related to golf course maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates diesel and gasoline powered equipment including, tractors, greens mowers, both riding and walking, mechanical sand rakes, fairway mowers, large rotary mowers, aerifiers, topdressers, utility vehicles, verticut units, greens rollers, sod cutter, overseeder, weed eaters, hand blowers.
- Performs basic repairs on golf course irrigation system as required.
- Performs routine golf course maintenance such as changing holes and tee blocks, repairing divots and ball marks, servicing ball washers and litter containers, bunker maintenance and maintenance of flower and shrub beds.
- Available to work long hours, weekends and during inclement weather.
- Cleans and maintains Turf Maintenance facility, performs routine inspections of on course washrooms.
- Makes necessary reports and interacts with the public to ensure the safe and orderly use of golf courses and provides good public relations.
- Adhere to all employment policies and procedures as laid out in the golf course employment handbook.
- Follow health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties/work as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor
**Job Requirements**:
- Self-Motivated, punctual, and proactive
- Strong communication skills
- Works well independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts (early morning, afternoon, evenings) including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
**Qualifications**:
- Basic understanding of power equipment and tools required to maintain the golf course.
- Previous experience working on a golf course an asset but not required.
- Education in related discipline an asset
- Good Physical Strength - Ability to stand/walk/bend/push/pull for extended periods of time.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to follow and take direction from Supervisors/Managers
