Serving students, staff, faculty and our wider community across all three campuses, the VPFA (Vice President Finance and Administration) leads and develops foundational support services to help achieve SFU’s academic, research and community engagement missions. We deliver SFU’s day-to-day operational and administrative needs through the work of Ancillary Services; Facilities Services; Finance; IT Services; and Safety & Risk Services. The Network and Systems Administrator collaborates closely with other members of the Network Operations team to support for the University's communication network, data centre and phone systems across the SFU Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver campuses. Plans, installs and manages the network(s) and servers; identifies, troubleshoots and resolves network problems; configures, installs, supports and monitors a wide range of hardware and software solutions; and provides a variety of technical support services for the University community. With an emphasis on network virtualization and software designed networking (SDN), provides technical support to senior engineers in the design, implementation and maintenance of a complex communication infrastructure.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computing Science or related discipline, and two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated skill in basic network engineering, problem diagnosis and resolution.
- Demonstrated skill in configuring and maintaining complex infrastructure environments.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, teamwork, and mentorship skills.
- Excellent analytical reasoning, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
