**Job Title**: Baker’s Helper

**Reports To**: Assistant Baker/Baker

**Job Summary**:
Under the direction of the Head Baker, assists in the preparation of baked goods for consumption.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Opens and closes the Bakery according to standardized procedures.
- Turns on and sets up required equipment.
- Prepares dough and pastries for baking; watches items while they are in the oven and proofer, and removes them when they are properly baked.
- Makes peanut brittle.
- Makes bread on the Baker's day off.
- Prepares orders for the Wainwright Hotel and Gunn's Dairy Barn.
- Maintains work area, including all work surfaces and floors, and related bakery equipment in a neat and clean condition. Removes garbage at the end of each day.
- Provides service and information to visitors in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Notes and reports any property damage or unsafe conditions.
- Other duties as required.

**Education**:
Completion of High School plus some post secondary training in a Food Service/Baking field is required.

**Experience**:
Approximately one year of experience in a Bakery environment is necessary. On-the-job training in the operation of the Heritage Park Bakery facilities will be provided.

**Skills**:
Good knowledge of Bakery procedures and equipment operation is essential. Applicants must also be able to cope with the stress of busy times, and follow directions. Tact and good verbal communication skills are essential when dealing with other staff and the public.

**Special Clothing and Equipment**:
Food Services white uniforms will be provided and must be worn. Personal tools to be supplied by the individual.

**Special Working Conditions**:
The nature of this position often requires the individual to work in an environment of extreme heat.

**Hours of Work**:
Early morning shifts, five days per week, including weekends. Generally 40 hours per week during the summer season.
