The mission of BrainsCAN is to improve cognitive neuroscience in health and disease. The present project goal is to validate new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. This multi
- investigator initiative involves a number of research groups and stake holders. This includes members of BrainsCAN and Healthy Brains and Healthy Lives (HBHL), represented by nominated PI, Dr. Marco Prado. The research carried out by the group aims to use advanced animal models, sophisticated imaging analysis, cognitive testing to investigate the clinical potential for new treatments for neurodegeneration. Our mission is to make translation from basic research to clinical outcomes faster and more reliable.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Master’s of Science in Life Sciences
- PhD in Life Sciences preferred
- Experience:
- 5 years’ research experience in a neurobiology lab with experience in behavioral or imaging analysis
- Experience managing research projects, managing and monitoring research budgets and supporting research staff
- Post doctoral experience and publication record in neuroscience, behavior or imaging preferred
- Experience interacting with students and managing research projects preferred
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Self-driven individual who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively on priorities and to work flexibly around variable work demands
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders and ability to lead meetings
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple activities that are accurate and thorough, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities
- In-depth knowledge of research design, principles and techniques related to neurobiology
- Knowledge of general laboratory procedures and familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
- Familiarity with project management software, and communication tools financial principles and budgeting with the ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
- Ability to focus and attend to detail while also understanding the big picture
- Ability to delegate work and provide team members with clear direction and support in meeting their objectives
- Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Project management skills with an ability to manage a project from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) with the ability to learn and use relevant software that achieves required outcomes and is in line with best practices
- Demonstrated ability to organize data and prepare reports for publication
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the research group’s events and activities
