Within WLRS, the Wildlife, Habitat and Species Recovery Branch holds overall responsibility for the CRP and provides provincial coordination, strategic direction, funding and oversight for caribou recovery in BC throughout the province. The CRP is directly accountable to achieve provincial goals and objectives for caribou. Program staff function in a 'matrix' staffing management system meaning they may report functionally to other divisions/regions/branches in various work groups while reporting directly to the CRP.

The Land and Resource Coordinator is a professional in the field of conservation and natural resource planning, working with diverse teams across the organization and other agencies to support the development of lasting management solutions to complex conservation issues. The position bridges environmental, social, and economic disciplines of natural resource management to advance caribou recovery and engages directly with First Nations and interested parties to that end. Developing lasting partnerships with First Nations and interested parties is key to ensuring a shared responsibility for caribou recovery across the province. The position will be responsible for project management and may provide professional input into collaborative planning tables and public engagement. The position is a member of the provincial Caribou Recovery Program Planning Initiatives Team and will be responsible for projects that support the goals of the program/ issues.

**Job Requirements**:
Education and Experience:

- A Doctoral Degree in planning or natural resource management-related field (e.g., natural resource planning, conservation planning, or natural resource management PLUS 1 year related experience* OR;
- A Master’s Degree in planning or natural resource management-related field (e.g., natural resource planning, conservation planning, or natural resource management PLUS 2 years related experience* OR;
- Undergraduate Degree in a planning or natural resource management-related field (e.g., natural resource planning, conservation planning, or natural resource management) PLUS 3 years related experience* OR;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered PLUS 3 years or more related experience* working in a natural resource planning-related field.
- Related experience must include all of the following:

- Experience managing or coordinating projects and project teams.
- Experience in natural resource planning or systematic conservation planning.
- Experience managing relationships with First Nations, interested parties and leading engagement and consultation sessions, including around contentious issues and conflict situations.
- Experience working with First Nations in BC in a natural resource management-related context.
