Vancouver, Canada AbCellera Biologics Full time

AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a Life Sciences degree in a relevant field to join our Cell Screening team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. Your day to day will be focused on supporting the high-throughput, single-cell screening workflow for the purposes of antibody drug discovery. You will work alongside our core lab leadership and project teams to ensure that our laboratory and workflows meet project deliverables and timelines. While in this position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Cell Screening team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.

**How you might spend your days**
- Preparation of cell isolates from primary sources
- Isolating plasma from whole blood samples
- Contributing to and executing cell enrichment protocols
- Preparing, labelling, and aliquoting common lab reagents and bulk cell screening media to support cell screening workflows
- Maintaining cell stocks and freezer inventories
- Collaborating with Lab Management teams to organize, order, and maintain common inventories and reagents
- Performing lab organization and maintenance tasks
- Maintaining and implementing standard operating procedures while recognizing and addressing opportunities for improvements
- Gaining expertise in routine cell screening procedures and growing your technical skill set
- Contributing to a project to drive and support research and development initiatives

**We'd love to hear from you if**
- You have strong interpersonal skills, thrive in a team setting, and you enjoy working side-by-side with highly motivated teammates in a busy and engaged environment
- You enjoy bench work and are looking for an opportunity to hone your technical skill set
- You are currently enrolled in a BSc program in Cell Biology, Immunology, or other relevant Life Science; hands-on experience in a wet lab environment would be preferred
- You have acquired foundational laboratory skills such as pipetting and aseptic cell culture technique
- You have hands-on experience with, or a keen interest in learning about, cell culture and cell enrichment methods
- You take pride in being self-motivated, a fast learner, and are willing to take initiative
- You are excited to learn about the drug discovery and development pipeline, including the early stages of antibody drug discovery
- You are available for 7am start time

**What we offer**

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all), and sick leave time while on your internship. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
