**Junior Estimator**

Summit Mechanical is a growing mechanical contracting business operating in the Southeastern Ontario region (Pickering to Peterborough area). Summit is looking to hire a Junior Estimator who will be responsible for providing support to the Estimators and Project Managers on Company Projects. This includes coordinating procurement of resources, sub-contractors, computerized takeoffs and providing project relevant background research. Documentation of work assigned and completed will be essential as this position involves the monitoring of project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
*Reviewing construction drawings, specification and performing quantity take-offs.

*Reviewing all bid documents and assisting in preparing submissions for tender.

*Calculating and compiling all material, equipment, sub contractor and supplier costs.

*Assist in preparing and presenting estimates and proposals with cost breakdowns.

*Participating in bid meetings and site visits.

*Maintaining cost tracking of projects.

*Overseeing progress and assisting in trouble shooting with on site crews to ensure deadlines are met.

*Co-ordinating with other trades, engineers, architects, and owners.

*Reviewing weekly time sheets.

*Preparing shop drawings and submittals.

*Managing customer relations and promoting the other trades in the company.

*Working with the various Union Locals to meet workforce requirements.

*Provide support to the Estimators, Project managers and other as directed to do so (written or oral instruction).

*Generate RFIs issued by contractors, sub-contractors or vendors and submit them to the General Contractor.

*Prepare and review our submittals.

*Maintain electronic and hard copies of all documentation and file such documentation weekly.

*Update and maintain shop drawings, RFIs, change orders as required.

*Assist senior staff in estimating new projects and change orders.

*Perform any additional duties as needed or assigned.

**Qualifications**:
*Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills (verbal and written) are essential.

*Ability to work independently and efficiently in a busy environment.

*Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures

*Evidence of strong attention to detail.

*Experience using computerized estimating software.

*Sheet metal and plumbing experience is an asset.

Wage will be determined based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. (Range of $20 - $40/hour.)

**Schedule**: Predominantly Monday to Friday
