The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

**Qualifications**:
- Grade 12 graduate or equivalent required
- Graduate of recognized business school preferred
**Skill, Ability and Experience**:
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology required
- Experience using Meditech system required
- Intermediate level proficiency using the MS Office Suite of products required
- Accurate Computer keyboarding skills required
- Experience with Surgical chart preparation required
- Ability to work the hours required by the position required
- Experience with Novari surgical information system preferred
- Previous clerical experience in a medical setting preferred
- Recent experience as a Ward Clerk preferred
**Principal Duties**:
- Complete reception and clerical tasks applicable to the needs of the department
- Greet, welcome, and support patients/families arriving for Day Surgery and Endoscopy procedures
- Prepare surgical charts to include required documents to support each patient’s visit
- Participate in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Complete continuing education requirements as necessary
- Other related duties as assigned
Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
