Position**:Business Development Specialist - Community Solar Projects**
Location: Kitchener, ON
Base Salary Range: $60k - $70k Annual Salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

of our solar projects in collaboration with our customers. With 300+ projects, more than 25 million kWh of
energy generated per year (enough to power 2,500 homes) and over 18,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions reduced
per year; we are entering a period of strong growth. Our latest endeavours push the limits to rethink underutilized
space, such as custom designed solar carports, drive electrification with modern and future ready EV charging
solutions, and work closely with industry leading developers to build out the future of how we generate, use and
prosperous and energy efficient future.

We are also the founders of a community-based energy investment vehicle. The CED Co-op allows all Ontarians
to invest and take part in building solutions to combat climate change. The Co-op has raised over $24 million in
investments from its 800+ members, on its way to developing a portfolio of over $45 million of renewable energy
projects. We are proud that CED Co-op is the first co-operative in Canada to become a public corporation,
enabling these investments to be held in RRSP, RESP, TFSA and RRIF investment portfolios. Future projects
under development for the Co-op include community-based net-metering and potentially building efficiency
projects such as geo-thermal heating and cooling, EV charging-as-a-service plus many more areas of opportunity.

VCT Group is growing. Leading community project development, the Business Development Specialist will
support the growth and advancement of energy innovation projects and investments that grow the portfolio of
community owned projects, especially those involving CED Co-op. This position involves working out of our
Kitchener office under the direction of the Business Development Manager. Come make an impact in our

- Develop strong relationships between VCT Group, CED Co-op and the energy industry at large.
- Drive ongoing and new collaborations with sustainability groups, social enterprises, financial and/or
- investment institutions as well as community impact organizations.- Develop relationships with relevant ministries and governmental agencies as well as political allies.
- Develop presentations and attend speaking engagements, representing VCT & CED in areas of
- sustainability, impact investing and climate action- Develop and deliver proposals for potential partner organizations that outline the solar net-metering
- business model under power purchase agreements and the economics of related project structures.- Originate and qualify project opportunities with values typically in the range of $200k to $1 million.
- Develop and build on program relationships for programs such as IESO’s Grid Innovation Fund, Community
- Net-Metering, and the future of Virtual Net-Metering.- Develop engagement opportunities and manage positions for hiring summer student and university co-op

students to help with community building projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related business, environmental or policy related field.
- 3+ Years of business development or sales experience in direct or reasonably related field.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including
- executives.- Strong organizational, problem solving, time management, and adaptability skills.
- Ability to identify problems and develop multiple creative alternatives for problem resolution.
- Able to work independently with tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, customer care and superior quality of work
- Experience in sustainability project development processes.
- Experience in public + private partnerships for the development of programs and projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of energy regulatory and environmental policy frameworks.
- Experience with or understanding of construction and/or project development.
- Experience in complementary technologies to solar power (battery and energy storage, air-source and
- ground-source heat pumps, electric vehicle integration and/or fleet electrification, etc.)- Experience in grant writing and funding proposal development
- Experience in responding to RFPs, RFIs and RFQs
