Component ECAD Librarian

We are looking for a Component ECAD Librarian to join our world-class manufacturing and design facility in Ottawa, Ontario

The Component ECAD Librarian takes concepts, datasheet information and ideas and converts them into electronic symbols and footprints. The ECAD librarian will marry the symbols in the library with footprints found in the library to create parts. The ECAD librarian will then test the parts in a development library before being released to a production library. Engineers at multiple sites use these symbols to generate electrical schematics.

Your Challenge- Create and maintain component schematic symbols and footprints.- Must be able to understand and interpret component drawings and specifications to produce accurate symbols and models including electrical schematic symbols and printed circuit board layout component models and land patterns.- Interact with the engineering teams to develop electronic symbols that meet their requirements.- Review and ensure all parts conform to IPC, company or manufacturer standards and best practices.- Test and debug all symbols in a development library.- Package and promote approved component ECAD data to the Production library.- Review DFM feedback from Manufacturing Engineering related to footprints/DFA and make recommendations to the PCB design team.- Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering to create and maintain 3D Models of ECAD library parts for mechanical design use.

What You Bring- College diploma or equivalent.- 3+ years related job experience.- Experience with recognized ECAD tool library software.- An asset would be experience with Mentor Expedition Flow.- Must be detail oriented.- Organized methodical approach to problem solving.- Must provide constructive feedback to the Engineering teams.- Should have the ability to read complex datasheets.- Knowledge of IPC standards for footprint design across standard package types.- Ability to read and understand part specification and mechanical drawings.- Experience with database management.- Experience with IPC guidelines.- Experience with PLM (product lifecycle management) practices and PLM tools such as Agile.
