This position is key to ensuring that Environment and Climate’s environmental liability contaminated sites are managed in a way that minimizes environmental and public safety concerns while reducing the environmental liability associated with these sites.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position such as site inspections and investigations.
- Must be willing and able to travel with occasional overnight stays as required.
- Must posess and maintain a valid full stage Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence without restrictions.

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- A degree in environmental science, environmental studies, a physical science (earth science, geology, geography or biology) or equivalent. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience in the environmental field including performing site inspections, land management, remediation, and/or environmental assessments.
- Extensive experience in the field of project management, including technical review of proposals, contract management, and managing interdisciplinary teams.
- Financial Management experience including preparing project budgets, cashflows, statements, and proposals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with courtesy, respect, and tact, with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and experience in working under pressure, managing multiple priorities in tight timeframes on confidential, complex, and sensitive issues.
- Strong written communication skills including, but not limited to experience producing authority seeking documents, requests for proposals, briefing notes, and issue papers.
- Strong verbal communication skills including experience explaining complex concepts to stakeholders with varying understanding of technical knowledge.

**Desired**:

- Supervisory experience including delegation of tasks, monitoring team performance, and providing coaching or mentoring to staff members.
- Experience with the enforcement and compliance of environmental legislation.

**Duties**:
This position leads the provincial environmental liability contaminated sites program for the department of Environment and Climate. This includes the planning, organizing, and directing of the technical and administrative activities for the program.
