**Position: Daycare Leadhand**

**Reports to: Snow school Manager/ Daycare Supervisor**

**Primary Objectives**:
As the Lead Hand at Bears Den Daycare, you will support the Daycare Supervisor in managing daily operations to ensure a positive and enriching experience for children, parents, and staff. Your key responsibilities include:

- ** Childcare Facilitation**: Oversee and care for children with age-appropriate play and educational activities, and plan daily activities in the Supervisor’s absence.
- ** Operational Assistance**: Support daily routines, lessons, bookings, and meal programs, adhering to Vancouver Island Health Authority regulations while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- ** Support and Communication**: Assist instructors with challenging behaviors and serve as a contact point for instructors and parents.
- ** Attention to Detail**: Ensure an organized and nurturing environment through proactive attention to detail.

**Scope**:

- ** Check-In and Information Collection**: Check children in and ensure parent information is current.
- ** Health and Safety**: Provide healthy snacks, water and maintain a clean workspace as per health authority standards.
- ** Facilities Assistance**: Help children with facility use as needed.
- ** Play and Learning**: Offer developmentally appropriate interactive play and learning experiences, assist with both indoor and outdoor activities, and support toddler lessons when required.
- ** In the Supervisor’s Absence**: Brief staff on routines, adjust schedules as needed, and handle payroll using ADP.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must be 19 years or older
- Provide 2 personal references
- Resume
- Must have Childsafe First Aid
- Food Safe Certification beneficial
- Must be willing to complete criminal record check
- Must have a minimum of 20 hours documented training pertaining to health, safety and or child development (Registered Adult) OR ECE, ECE assistant, or Bachelor of Education (Primary)
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Have a hard working and fun personality

Act as an ambassador for Mount Washington, assisting with other departmental operations as needed. Adhere to all policies in the Mt. Washington Employee Handbook and consult the Daycare Supervisor or Snow School Management Team for questions or feedback. Your contributions are valued for continuous improvement.
