The Electronics Technician is responsible for all electrical services relating to machine operation at all Friesens facilities in Altona. Responsibilities focus on the maintenance of production equipment and requires working closely with the Machine Maintenance Technicians.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’S), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and a variety of control systems required
- A degree in computer science is an asset.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Ability to load new programs or changes to software is an asset
- Experience in changing out faulty parts is an asset.
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Effective English use and comprehension
- Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
- Essential Math skills
- Effective use of position related documents to accomplish job tasks
- Demonstrated organization, prioritizing, time and stress management skills
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Continuous learning/improvement mindset
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities
- Able to deal with people diplomatically and professionally at all times
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures
- Call-ins and call backs required
- Previous forklift experience is an asset

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Deals with electrical issues to keep the equipment running
- Assists in the maintenance of a suppliers listing for purchasing supplies and parts. Responsible to keep a supply of regularly used parts in stock and order other parts as required.
- Participates in Preventative Maintenance programs with the Construction Electrician and Facilities Manager
- Participates in Friesens “lock-out” procedures
- Keeps all electrical areas clean and orderly
- Draws on other maintenance staff for help by making arrangements with the Facilities Manager
- Has access to drawings for the layout of the electrical wiring at Friesens.
- Is available for call backs outside of regular working hours
- In the future, Electronics Technician may be required to be on-call. When this becomes a requirement, details will be discussed and information regarding the call-in procedure will be clearly defined by the Production Manager
- When away on banked time the Electronics Technician is accessible by telephone during regular working hours for emergency calls unless otherwise pre-arranged with the Facilities Manager
- Techs on-call schedule to be determined
- Call-backs will be paid as per Friesens callback policy
- Overtime and callback hours may be banked. Maximum allowable banked time is 48 hours as per Friesens Banked Time policy

Position will remain open until filled. Incomplete resumes will be disqualified.
