**Overview of the Opportunity**

Esprit Place Family Resource Centre provides emergency residential support and associated programs and services for women and children fleeing or at risk of violence. The **Clinical Counsellor** provides trauma counselling to women and children who are experiencing or have experienced forms of violence, including but not limited to childhood abuse, domestic violence, or sexual violence.

**Required Qualifications Include**
- Registration with, and a member in good standing of a regulatory college.
- Minimum 5 years of experience providing crisis and trauma counselling, case management, individual and group therapy.
- Knowledge and understanding of violence against women’s issues.
- Demonstrated understanding of the links between violence, trauma, addiction, and mental health concerns.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of all legislation relevant to the position.
- Knowledge of community resources, including health and criminal justice system networks.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and sound judgment in assessing the needs of women.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong computer skills in a Windows environment and client information databases for statistical recording and report writing.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel throughout the district as required.
- Valid certification in Standard First Aid and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Checks required.

**Principal Responsibilities Include**
- Individual crisis counselling for Esprit Place Family Resource Centre Residential or Outreach clients.
- Completion of residential or outreach program intake paperwork and program orientation.
- Plan, develop, and facilitate trauma therapy groups or programs for women and children.
- Advocacy for clients through outreach and collaboration with other community response systems including social services, family court, criminal justice, and health.
- Complete admission/intake and discharge paperwork focusing on clinical assessment and safety planning.
- Document all individual client or group interventions as per agency policies and procedures and in line with the requirements of the appropriate regulatory college.
- Assess program needs on an ongoing basis to determine the type and frequency of group programming required. Develop, deliver, and evaluate appropriate group programs or sessions based on current needs, in collaboration with the program Supervisor.
- Provide appropriate referrals to other professionals in the community, including health, justice, housing, employment, or income stability partners.
