**Summary**

The Animal Care Attendant role is intended to provide gold standard nursing and comfort care to our patients with clear and effective client communication. This will be a very important accessory role to our medical team and will include assisting them with their treatments and updating owners.

Therefore, we feel that even though this is an entry level position, you are an integral part of our team, and we are committed to fostering your passion for veterinary medicine.

**Essential Job Functions**
- Understands the importance of a clean and orderly facility and does not hesitate to clean up or organize as part of a normal job duty. This includes but is not limited to: sweeping, dusting, washing walls and counters
- Knowledge of biosecurity. Knows the proper disinfectants and their dilution ratios to use for various illness when cleaning.
- Sweeping and mopping floors
- Maintaining general clinic tidiness, including front and back of the hospital
- Emptying garbage and recycle bins
- Restocking drawers
- Laundry
- Assisting RVTs and DVMs with restraint of patients
- Responsible for surgery room set-up, clean up, and quick turn over between procedures.
- Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical supplies.
- Report problems or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
- Operate, clean, and perform departmental routine maintenance on all equipment.
- Perform quality assurance tests to ensure that the sterilization process is effective
- Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room.
- Provide patient restraint as required during procedures and examinations.
- Perform inventory management of supplies and pharmaceuticals as required, including ordering, receiving, storage, and handling.
