In addition to a teaching commitment, the Junior School Vice Principal - Student Affairs is responsible for the daily operations and the long-term development of the Junior School. This full-time leadership position commences August 14, 2023, for the 2023-2024 school year.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

*These may include, but are not limited to...
- Identifying staffing needs and playing a leading and determinative role in the recruitment, hiring and retention of faculty;
- Conducting formal performance evaluations of PYP teachers;
- Leading or assisting in conflict resolution and/or performance review meetings with faculty members, in conjunction with the Junior School VP (PYP Coordinator);
- Overseeing, monitoring and managing the performance and duties of Teacher Assistants, Behavioural Interventionists and the library technician;
- Overseeing the recruitment, programming and schedule of international GAP students;
- Assisting in the induction of new faculty members into the Junior School;
- Planning, leading and facilitating student enrichment and community building events in the Junior School;
- Overseeing the Foundation Skills Assessment tests in Grade 4; ensuring students are well prepared to perform at their best; assisting teachers with planning and preparation;
- Ensuring effective communication and collaboration among all Junior School faculty members;
- Contributing and assisting with Parent Information sessions.

All Southpointe educators provide co-curricular activities for students by either devising their own programmes or participating in the school’s Athletics offerings throughout the three different sporting seasons.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent;
- BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;
- Knowledge and understanding of the IB PYP;
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
