**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Minimum O.S.S.G.D. Cook has a chef training or culinary management diploma or certificate (Red Seal). Current Safe Food Handlers certification (must be updated every 3 years).
- **Good Attendance is required**.
- **Physical**: Physically able to handle daily routines that may consist of bending, pushing and lifting. Able to tolerate heat and sanitizing chemicals.
- **Experience**: Institutional cooking experience in a long term care setting.

**Performance Requirements/Duties**:

- follow production sheets, standard recipes and prepare meals as per the menu
- provide leadership to the team during meal production and meal service
- provide courteous, sanitary and timely food service to the residents
- maintain proper sanitary conditions in the kitchen at all times
- work according to the Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- complete all tasks as written in the daily job routine in a timely and co-operative manner
- serve correct meals to each resident based on special dietary requirements
- verify service of special diets by Dietary Aides following written dietary orders
- attend meetings, in-services as required
