Dog Walker

We’re looking for an active animal lover who wants to work with dogs and cats all day. The right person for this job has day-time availability to work Monday to Friday, and is willing to pitch in on some evenings and weekends. You’ve got to have a cellphone, rain gear, and be comfortable getting around on your bike.

**As a pet specialist with Woof & Purr, you’ll be**:

- Walking and playing with Vancouver’s cutest dogs (between one and three at a time)
- Arrive on-time, taking our clients’ dog out for a solo or small pack walk around the neighbourhood.
- Take photos during the walk, and leave a daily report card for pet guardians via our mobile app.
- Pick up and dispose of dog waste properly
- Clean up and towel off muddy and wet dogs after their outing
- Follow instructions specific to the pet and the home
- Some walks require positive reinforcement techniques (for dogs that are in-training).
- Avoiding stressful situations or their triggers
- Working outdoors in all weather (rain, shine, snow)
- Visiting cats of all spots and stripes to provide food, medication, treats, pats, cuddles, play and company when their owners are away.
- Meeting our new (human) clients to go over their needs, and collect or return keys to them as needed.
- Other tasks as needed to keep the business working well, and growing.

**Highlights**
- $18.75/hour = $750/week or $3,000 per month.
- Full-time hours: 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday work schedule

**Requirements**:

- You’re looking for a long term position (at least 1 year).
- You’re legally allowed to work in Canada, and are available to work Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- You love animals of all temperaments, especially dogs (both large and small) & cats. You like people too.
- You live in downtown Vancouver**:the West End / Coal Harbour / Yaletown.**:

- You own rain gear, suitable for working outside in wet weather.
- You have a bike, and are able to get between clients that way.
- You’re honest, trustworthy, reliable, and on-time.
- You have excellent communication, customer service and time management skills.
- You are detail oriented, and able to follow complex pet care and medication instructions
- Supporter and promoter of positive reinforcement techniques
- You’re calm under pressure and and able to positively adapt to unexpected situations and changes
- You’re willing to complete criminal record check

**Nice to have**:

- Previous work experience with animals (doggy day care, vet clinic, dog walking company)
- **Working with fearful / reactive dogs a BIG BONUS**:

- Ability and willingness to do dog sitting / cat sitting at your home
- Driver’s license
- Pet first aid certification
