Edmonton, Canada Sterling Chemicals Ltd. Full time

Servicing the industry for over 30 years, Sterling Chemical provides custom-made chemistries for production, drilling, completion, midstream, and power-generation entities. In addition, Sterling is actively developing technology for Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) from oilfield brines and has developed leading edge DLE technologies for Volt Lithium. Sterling's Edmonton lab is at the National Institute for Nanotechnology located on the University of Alberta campus.

Key Job Duties:

- Product development. Running field trials. Visiting customer sites for information gathering and troubleshooting.
- Project planning. Product development planning.
- Method development: modifying existing and developing new procedures as necessary to support product development efforts.
- Product formulation optimization. Process optimization.
- Data collection and interpretation.
- Some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications:

- Technical diploma, B.Sc., or higher degree in chemistry.
- 3-5 years of product development experience including formulating products and process development.
- Product (formulation) development from bench through to customer’s end use.
- Experience with a range of analytical methods and instrumentation including XRD, GC, and Rheometers.
- Works well both independently and in a team environment, depending on the project.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Statistical Design of Experiments training and experience an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
