Provides exceptional service to all guests and potential guests by assisting them in a friendly, efficient, courteous and professional manner. Provides valet parking services to safely and efficiently move guest automobiles to a designated parking location while following company policies and procedures. Assisting with loading and unloading of luggage, providing information in regard to the hotel’s facilities and events, and directions to local attractions.
**Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions**
- Maintaining pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, co-workers and clients.
- Acknowledging, greeting and welcoming guests to the location, using appropriate Langdon Hall protocols.
- Park and retrieve vehicles and driving slowly and cautiously.
- Assisting guests with bell service, luggage storage, directions, taxis, reservations, information about meeting rooms and/or amenities of the facility and other inquiries as needed.
- Explaining retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival.
- Recognize all returning and VIP guests, and welcome them back. Escort all guests checking in to their accommodations following hotel procedure. Inform them about all hotel and guest room features, hotel facilities and emergency procedures. Assist guests with their luggage and acknowledge them by name.
- Deliver the morning newspapers to each occupied guest room.
- Make deliveries to guest rooms as instructed.
- Store and retrieve luggage and other objects for guests.
- Be aware of daily hotel activities, group and VIP arrivals. Communicate special guest requests to the Lobby Ambassador and or Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty.
- Ensure the lobby, bell closet and work areas as well as departmental equipment are clean and presentable at all times. Communicate needs to the Front Office Manager/Manager on Duty.
- Perform other duties as required.
**Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required**
- Capable of quickly accessing the parking lot and returning the car to the front of the hotel.
- Provide courteous service to drivers and be responsive to their needs.
- Stamina: Valets spend most of their time on their feet, walking back and forth to cars.
- Must hold a valid Ontario driver’s license and clean Drivers’ Abstract.
- Smart Serve certified, required
- Must be able to read and write Standard English.
- Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients and other employees.
- Must be able to perform parallel parking; manual transmission driving skills preferred.
- Working flexible schedules and extended hours are sometimes required.
- For insurance purposes, must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background check.
**Work Conditions and Physical Requirements**
- Fast paced environment - must be able to work under pressure and be able to multitask.
- Physically demanding: regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach from shoulder, climb stairs, balance, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to push and pull (on wheelchair) 100 to 350 pounds occasionally over considerable distance.
Must have own transportation and be able to legally work in Canada.
