Cemetery Grounds Crew

The Grounds Crew position is responsible for working with other full-time and seasonal staff to perform all aspects of garden and grounds maintenance throughout the cemetery.

Job Responsibilities:

- Perform all tasks related to the maintenance of flower and shrub beds throughout the property including: preparing, planting, watering, fertilizing, and weeding beds as required/ necessary.
- Perform all aspects of general grounds maintenance including: grass cutting, string trimming, debris removal, gardening, pruning, and other related tasks.
- Assist with the setting, maintenance, and installation of memorials and foundations.
- Assist with interment duties.
- Perform all aspects of cemetery lot maintenance including: sodding, seeding, top-dressing, and leveling low areas.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Some administrative duties including: answering phones, paperwork, and other administrative projects.
- Perform other duties as required

Equipment Used:

- Hand Tools and equipment, including but not limited to: assorted shovels, rakes, pry-bars, hammers, screw drivers, and other similar and/or related equipment.
- Hand held power tools including: drills, circular saws, string trimmers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, water pumps and other similar and/or related equipment.
- Commercial ride on lawn maintenance and landscaping equipment including: tractors, zero turn mowers, and related equipment such as dump or utility trailers.

Physical Requirements:

- Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Prolonged periods of siting on equipment driven over rough terrain is expected.
- Prolonged periods of bending, walking, kneeling, stooping, and other related motions are expected.
- Lifting of cemetery products and landscaping materials and/or related tools and equipment such as: sod, soil, bricks, memorials, grave dressing lowering devices and/or other similar/related is expected.

**Education**:

- Current post-secondary education will be considered an asset

Work experience:

- Prior work related to grounds maintenance or gardening will be considered an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 months

**Salary**: From $16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

**Experience**:

- Groundskeepers & Greenskeepers: 1 year (preferred)
