Our equipment division, Apex Industrial Rentals has an immediate opening for a _**Heavy Equipment Technician **_in Edmonton. This permanent, full-time position is Monday to Friday (7:30 to 4:00) with paid overtime; 40 hours per week with benefits. Journeyperson wage is $40 per hour as set by Union Agreement through the IUPAT.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Equipment Testing and Inspection**
- Able to generate list of servicing and repairs required
- Able to determine parts required for repairs prior to tear-down
- Able to capture modifications and damage done to unit and report to supervision
- Wash units and identify areas requiring further diagnosis

**In-Shop Repairs and Support**
- Perform scheduled maintenance/servicing/repairs meeting or exceeding OEM Specifications
- Assist in running repairs and unplanned breakdowns of equipment going to or returning to job sites
- Repair and maintain Apex shop equipment
- Repair and maintain 3rdparty shop equipment
- Pick up and drop off equipment for 3rd party repairs
- Assist with snow removal in winter months
- Conduct air certification tests on air compressors
- Maintain clean workspace including garbage removal and shop cleaning

**In-Field Repairs**
- Travel to client's sites and perform scheduled servicing and maintenance
- Travel to client's sites to respond to breakdowns and equipment failures
- Travel to Bonneyville and Whitecourt to maintain and repair equipment
- Travel to BC, Saskatchewan and Ontario to inspect, diagnose and perform major repairs

**Types of Equipment Repair**: Our fleet includes (but is not limited to) heavy construction equipment with gas and diesel powered units, vehicles, forklifts, media blasting equipment, vacuum units, generators, compressors, dust collectors, diesel fired heaters, heavy truck, light trailer, telehandlers and skidsteers.

**Work Site Environment**: Combination of Shop, Yard and Site work, year-round

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**
- Successful completion of Journeyperson level as a Heavy Equipment Technician preferred.

Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off-Road) or Truck and Transport Mechanic may also be considered, apprentices registered with Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) also will be considered

**Training**
- Further training into A/C Electrical systems desirable
- Training in welding processes and proficiency with FCAW, GMAW & SMAW desirable
- Skid Steer Certificate

**Experience**:5 years or more

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**

This position will require the following:

- Working Outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Heavy Lifting (Up To 50 lbs)
- Continuous Physical Effort
- Ability to meet Site Entrance Requirements for various clients such as being clean-shaven or performing fitness testing prior to site entry
- Must provide own tooling and secure storage, eg. toolbox
- In-Depth Knowledge of Equipment used in the Sandblasting and Coatings Application Industry
- Safe Driving Skills
- Able to Work at Heights
- Comfortable Working in Tight Areas

**Transportation/Travel Information**: Own transportation, valid Class 5 driver's license

**Security and Safety**: Driving record check (abstract), pre-Access drug test
