**Job Summary**: Prepress specialist responsible for the layout of graphics to conform to secure card and manufacturing specifications. The job entails developing production proofs, platemaking for litho press and silkscreen film making.
- ** Responsibilities**:

- Create card layouts and designs using customer supplied art files, to ensure compliance with relevant payment scheme standards and specifications.
- Create complete and accurate digital proofs for customer review and approval.
- Communicate with Customer Service to get clarifications on requests and to provide interpretation of payment scheme specifications
- Creation of plating files required for unobstructed press oprations
- Platemaking process for imaging and developing of plates for litho press and film making for screen manufacturing for screen press
- Thorough inspection of plates and films before their release to the next process
- Complete documentation required for reconciliation of plates on designated forms and on ERP systems
- Populating the production docket with inserts of previous run samples and other reference materials as appropriate for the pressroom.
- Troubleshoot print related problems traceable to Pre-press activities
- Perform maintenance and cleaning as per schedule on film making and plate making equipment
- Operate digital proofing machine and other related equipment
- Request procurement of consumables and direct materials timely in line with consumption trends and inventory at hand to avoid stock outs.
- Ensure the work area is maintained in a tidy and orderly fashion at all times.
- Comply with G&D Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures and report any Environmental, Health & Safety hazards, incidents and concerns to the immediate supervisor/manager.

**Qualifications, Experience and Educational Requirements**:
**Work Experience**:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in the lithographic and/or screen printing industry required
- Experience in the payment card manufacturing industry is a distinct advantage

**Skills and Competencies**:

- Proficiency in all Adobe Creative Suite, RIP, Layout, and CTP system on Mac Computer
- Mechanical skills for performing minior maintenance on imaging equipments
- Self motivated team player with the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Strong time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and observant
- Must be good with problem solving and ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be quality conscious and customer focused
- Ability to deal with changing workload and conditions
- Must be a team player and effective verbal and written communicator

**Education**:

- Completion of specialized training beyond high school, such as a two-year vocational/technical training program in graphic design or related filed, is preferred

**Working Conditions**
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of artwork and security features
- Smock required on production floor

**Physical Requirements**
- Walking between work station and film making/plate making equipment
- Requires recognition of colour correctness and alertness to small detail
- May include occational lifting of moderately heavy objects
