West Haldimand General Hospital is located in the beautiful town of Hagersville, and is a scenic half hour drive to Simcoe, Brantford and Hamilton. Housekeeping Department.

**DUTIES**

Performs janitorial functions to ensure that departments are cleaned, stocked and prepared for patients, families, staff and other visitors.

1. Operates floor cleaning machines on a daily basis, including the use of the swing buffer.
2. Responsible for carpet cleaning.
3. Maintains floors; including buffing, dusting and scrubbing.
4. Stripping and waxing of floors.
5. Maintains and cleans housekeeping equipment.
6. Collects soiled linen.
**7. **Works effectively as a member of the Housekeeping Team. Communicates in a respectful manner and promotes a healthy, supportive and inclusive work environment. Works to minimize and resolve conflicts with coworkers.

8. Respects and maintains confidentiality and patient privacy at all times, in accordance with legislation and Hospital policy.

9. Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Ability to stand for long periods, repetitive reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting using proper body mechanics.

2. Minimum Grade 12 education and/or the equivalent education.
3. Previous experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred.
4. Institutional janitorial experience is preferred.
5. Demonstrated ability to accept assignments, delegation, requests and follow instructions.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team, both verbal and written.
7. Ability to use commercial cleaning equipment and to work with cleaning agents.
8. Ability to work in an active nursing unit, dealing with isolation procedures.
7. Ability to operate a floor cleaning machines, a swing buffer, and stand for long periods. Must be able to engage in repetitive reaching, bending, climbing step ladder, pushing and lifting using good body mechanics.

8. Ability to set priorities and organize work in response to department needs.
