Vintage Cellar Hand

We are recruiting for passionate and enthusiastic _**_Vintage Cellar Hands_**_ to join our team at_**_ Black Hills Estate Winery _**_starting in late-August, 2023_**_._** **_Black Hills Estate Winery_**_ is situated on the scenic Black Sage Bench in Oliver, British Columbia and has been producing ultra-premium wine in this region since 1999. Known for our range of Bordeaux and Rhone inspired blends and varieties, our focus is precise and organic vineyard management, mínimal intervention in the winery, and delivering a world class wine experience to the thousands of visitors we see annually. _
- This role is reporting into the _**Winemaker and as a**_ Vintage Cellar Hand _**_will work as part of the team to safely and efficiently complete all cellar harvest activities._

**_ We are looking for teammates with:_**
- _ Winemaking or viticulture qualification, or related science qualifications, and/or_ _an asset_
- _ Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team, in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on quality, accuracy and timelines_
- _ Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations, operating procedures and company policies _
- _Ability to prioritize and able to adapt to changing priorities _
- _Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and willingness to work flexible hours when needed_
- _ Forklift driving certification an asset_
- _ Understanding current compliance with work safe practices_
- _ Foreign applicants must have appropriate VISA to work in Canada_

**_ These teammates will be accountable for:_**
- _ Operating all equipment used in the processing of grapes, juice, and wine during harvest_
- _ Sorting of grapes, operating presses and destemmer._
- _ Making additions to juice and wine, as well transferring juice and wine volumes using a variety of pumps and hoses_
- _ Barrel work, including preparing barrels, and filling and racking juice and wine from barrel_
- _ Cleaning and sanitation of tanks, barrels, processing equipment, and the winery_
- _ Performing red cap management techniques such as pump overs, punch downs, and barrel rolling_
- _ Following written and/or oral procedures and policies, reporting any deviations _
- _Reading, understanding, and completing paperwork efficiently and accurately_
- _ Maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy work environment_, _as well_ _following current WorkSafe regulations_

**_ Must have a valid Work VISA to work in Canada_**

**_ This role is a 6-month contract on the Andrew Peller Ltd. owned Black Hills Estate Winery._**
