**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:We are seeking an experienced **Driver Trainer** to join our team. Reporting to the Driver Services Manager, this role is responsible for providing theory and practical training to new and existing drivers as part of the driver training program and assessing their skills to ensure they’re competent to complete the job on their own. The core responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Schedule and facilitate driver training sessions for all driving disciplines as requested by the HR Manager
- Attend weekly competency check-in meetings to determine if on-the job training is effective and provide guidance and recommendations as required
- Maintain accurate records to include final sign-off and job observations on all drivers to ensure they’re competent to complete their job safely and in compliance with company expectations
- Provide on-going coaching and mentoring to new drivers by completing 3-month, 6-month and 12-month observation check-in
- Participate in the company’s Health & Safety sub-committees and provide expertise and recommendations as needed
- Participate in monthly Operational Health & Safety/Driver meetings by providing support and resources
- Facilitate annual practical training such as but not limited to trip inspection and spill response
- Participate in accident, injury and near-miss health and safety incident investigations and provide insight on countermeasures, make recommendations and complete action items as assigned
- When requested, participate in progressive disciplinary meetings and complete driver training or re-training as part of performance improvement plan
- Participate in regular review of driver related work instructions as needed for accuracy and provide input on appropriate changes
- Participate in driver recruiting activities such as job fairs, trade shows and driving school as assigned
- Perform other duties as required
**ABOUT YOU**:
- AZ Licenses - 5 years of bulk transportation industry experience
- Clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR
- Excellent time Management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and Safety legislation requirements
- Train the Trainer certification considered an Asset
- Flexible work schedule to accommodate training needs with ability to travel
