Who we need:
Reporting to the Vice President, Academic and Principal, the Interim Assistant Dean is responsible for providing academic and professional support to the campus and the Liberal Arts Dean with planning, quality assurance, academic operations, and the effective delivery of the program. They are a member of governance bodies and chairs committee(s), as needed, ensuring the integrity and reputation of the program within the industry. The Interim Assistant Dean strives to support students’ academic achievement and successful outcomes; supports the program’s academic governance, including developing and implementing policy on Program Advisory Committees as applicable. They contribute to a working environment to support our mission of championing student success.

What you will do:

- Support the VPA and Principal and Liberal Arts Dean with leadership and planning for academic programs, to advance the university's academic goals.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and development, excellence in teaching practices, and student satisfaction strategies.
- Assist with developing and presenting strategies and practices for effective faculty recruitment, orientation and training; uphold the professional standards of the program.
- Ensure adherence to all academic policies and appeals procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Teaching and Learning, Admissions, Marketing and Communications and Student Services.
- Support the budgeting, resource allocation, and financial management of the program.
- Participate in governance and management bodies/committees, as applicable.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure academic and professional standards and effective administration of the program.
- Collaborate closely with the Liberal Arts Dean to ensure that students’ education needs are met.
- As a member of the academic team, act as a brand ambassador, contribute to the promotion of core values, distinctive capabilities and a positive corporate culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.
- Teach two (2) courses per term required; additional as per overload policy, requiring VPA permission.

What you bring:

- Earned doctorate from a recognized/accredited institution in a Liberal Arts discipline.
- At least 5 years’ experience teaching on-campus and online at the postsecondary level.
- Academic and professional experience commensurate with a position as a leader and senior academic administrator at the post-secondary level would be an asset.
- An understanding of and commitment to academic policy and procedures, academic governance and management.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with teams across all functions.
- A record of success in recruiting and retaining talented and diverse faculty; a champion of faculty eager to excel in teaching and creative activities.
- A strong commitment to post-secondary professional education, particularly for mature learners and/or international learners.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to the University’ strategic goals.
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong focus on students with emphasis on retention, academic success, and wellbeing.
