**Memory Lane Home Living is seeking an Undergraduate student or a musically talented individual, to provide musical accompaniment for our **_**Music from the Heart C**_**hoir made up of persons living with a dementia diagnosis and thier care partners.**

Witness the power of Music Therapy, as we practice a repetoire of music to perform in Long Term Care and Retirement Homes. **You are someone looking to complement their studies or older adults who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of older adults and have a keen interest in MUSIC.** Your role will involve encouraging the women to engage in the Music through leadership singing or you and/or your ability to play a piano or guitar.

**Commitment**: You can join our Music Therapy Class for the first half hour, and then lead our choir practices and performances for the next half hour. Dedicated to a **long-term commitment**.
- **Experience**: Prior experience working with individuals with dementia (either through work or lived experience) is required.
- **Location**: Volunteers must reside in Richmond Hill or close surrounding areas.
- **Age Requirement**: Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Senior volunteers are welcome.
- **Interests**: An enjoyment of music and engaging in conversations is essential. Being passionate about working with seniors is vital.
- **Willingness to Learn**: We value volunteers who are eager to learn and grow in their roles.
- **Empathy and Compassion**: Demonstrated ability to foster meaningful relationships with older adults with dementia and fellow volunteers.
- **Vocal skills are preferred**:We value the impact music has on the minds of those living with dementia. Someone who has vocal skills are preferred to lead singing activities.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Activity Planning and Execution:

- Engage in singing and piano playing for individuals living with dementia. Our Recreation Therapist and Music Therapist will guide you.
- Prepare old show tune songs.
- Prepare tea and snack.

2. Resident Engagement:

- Engage with residents during activities, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere.
- Encourage participation and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

3. Relationship Building:

- Develop meaningful connections with residents, understanding their preferences, and providing person-centered care.
