**POSITION: CASE MANAGEMENT WORKER**

**2 FULL-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE**

**REPORTING TO: DIRECTOR OF CHILD SAFETY SERVICES**

**Position Summary**:
The Case Management Worker will be responsible for a range of services to provide protective, preventative and support services to children and their families to address and prevent child abuse and neglect. They will be reporting to the Director of Child Safety Services with an overall accountability to the One Arrow First Nation. They will be responsible for working with families residing on the One Arrow
First Nation and Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC) to help families navigate through the Child and Family
Services system.

Critical to this position is an understanding of the community-based values and traditions. The Case
Management Worker will be able to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with co-workers and community members at all levels in order to achieve common goals in the area of healthy child parenting, recognizing child abuse and neglect and familiarizing the community with a traditional and wholistic way of child rearing and the value we place on our children.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Work closely and cooperatively with One Arrow First Nation Chief and Council, Director of Child
Safety Services, Prevention Department, Saskatoon Tribal Council, Program Managers and all frontline staff.

3. Understanding of the One Arrow First Nation’s objectives, values and traditions. Adhere to the

Personnel and Fit for Duty Policy as set out by One Arrow First Nation Chief and Council.
4. Act as a liaison between STC and band members.
5. Develop, update and monitor STC protocol in the community and how it applies the band members.
6. Attend home visits in the community alongside STC when they are in the community.
7. Carry through with all duties from initial contact (investigation) to file closure. Support to band members throughout the process will be provided by Case Management Worker.
8. Assist families with case planning with STC, including short and long-term goals for each member of the family and ensure ongoing supports are available. Work with families to develop case plans that strengthen and enhance family relations and dynamics.

9. Assist in identifying the need for family support services and possible resources available in the community and outside the community. Connecting band members to support and services they want or require.

10. Connecting with children in care to assist in community and cultural connection case planning.
11. Ensure children in care have knowledge of and access to attending community events and cultural activities.
12. Advocate and assist placing children with family and within the community when possible.
13. Support education staff in working through child safety concerns and reports that arise at school.

14. Take part in Duty to Report training within the community.
15. Participate in case conferences and annual ward reviews for children in care
16. When necessary, work through court proceeding process with families and represent the band.
17. Maintain confidential, current, accurate and complete case documentation from first point of contact through to file closure as per standard and legislative requirements.
18. Maintain statistical data and prepare monthly, interim and final activity reports as needed by the community.
19. Measure effectiveness of support and resources by participating in file reviews and program evaluations.
20. Participate in program development and enhancement for the betterment of the community.
21. Develop and provide reports as necessary based on program work plan, identifying priorities, indicators and outcomes.
22. Perform effective family support services including counselling, support services, education and referral services.
23. Facilitate and participate in training, education and mentoring to enhance family and community development.
24. Have an awareness of the indicators of the child/children such as risk of child abuse/neglect and communicate risk to appropriate authority as per duty to report.
25. Participate in training, education, mentoring and other forms of development.
26. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Child Safety Services within the scope of duties.

**Knowledge and Skills**:
1. Knowledge and understanding of Bill C-92, child welfare case management and the Child and Family Services Act.

2. Knowledge of the political, social and economic objectives of One Arrow First Nation.
3. Understanding of the unique culture and traditions of the various communities across

Canada.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the provincial family services court process.
5. Work experience with First Nations people with an understanding of issues encountered by

First Nations people.
