**We are changing how the world makes battery materials** and we need your help We are looking for talented and creative people to join our team of 130+ as we scale-up towards commercialization.

**Position Summary**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Support Thermal Processing Engineers with their day-to-day tasks.
- Characterization of samples using various techniques (ex. XRD, ICP, TGA, SEM, BET surface area).
- Design and execute experiments to understand reaction kinetics during calcination of material using various calcination equipment.
- Fabricate Li-ion half cells using cathode active material produced in calcination studies and use Arbin Instruments battery cyclers to collect data for interpretation.
- Maintain and calibrate furnaces at both lab and pilot scales.
- Assist in commissioning and validation of new calcination equipment.
- Assist with kiln modifications depending on experimental set-up and calibration of sensors used in the experimental set-up.
- Address problems that may arise in a creative and flexible manner.
- Communicate findings to other teams through reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with the R&D and Scale-Up teams to create calcination procedures used at various scales.
- Other tasks and assignments determined by the Thermal Processing Team Lead.

**Qualifications**:

- At minimum a Bachelors degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar and 1-2 years of related experience, or a Masters degree in Materials Science (preferred).
- 1-2 years of experience working with ceramics or high temperature calcination.
- Experience with electrochemistry and analytical tools/instruments (i.e., XRD, TGA/DSC, SEM, PSA, EDX, FTIR, CV, ICP-OES, CHN analyzers) would be an asset.
- Experience working with various types of kilns or furnaces would be an asset.
- Experience working in a Li-ion battery industry or manufacturing facility would be an asset.
- Hands-on experience with tools, laboratory apparatus and analytical equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with experience writing reports and preparing presentations.
- A flexible and innovative mindset with a creative approach to problem solving.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
