The Emergency Technician will provide patient/family-centered care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The Emergency Technician will assist with medical directives and patient flow in the Emergency Department to support the inter-disciplinary emergency department team.

**Duties include**:

- Performing ECGs
- Obtaining and labeling laboratory specimens
- Initiating intravenous/saline locks
- Preparing patients for assessment, including undressing, attaching monitor leads
- Assessing and documenting vital signs and weights as directed
- Facilitating patient flow as directed
- 12 hour day/night shifts (7 days a week)

**Qualifications**:

- Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma or equivalent
- Certified by the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists
- Previous experience and expertise as a healthcare provider in an emergency department is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to respond to physical demands (i.e. lifts and transfers)
- Current certification in CPR
- Good organizational skills
- Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
